The Kansas City Chiefs ended the preseason on a 29-27 loss against the Chicago Bears. However, the most important factor in the game was how sharp the Kansas City offense looked, and a proven defense ending the year healthy. Head coach Andy Reid shared these sentiments when talking about the Chiefs' preseason finale. While winning even a meaningless game is ideal, what fans and coaches wanted to see was on full display against the Bears.
Mahomes looked incredibly sharp, and the offense moved the ball well against Chicago's defense. While it is impossible to take much away from the preseason, it is fair to look at the finale as evidence that the team is ready for the regular season. This doesn't come as a surprise for a team that has played more football than any other team in the league over the last three seasons. Part of the price of greatness is longer runs and far more preparation time.
With this in mind, Reid has a great gauge on the roster, and the head coach being upbeat is a great sign for how the season will start. Kansas City is getting two early tests playing Jim Harbaugh's Chargers, who are always a headache, and unfortunately, the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid Believes Roster Is Ready for the Season
Charles Goldman tweeted Reid's quote with the head coach offering a simple "It was a smooth operation." This was when asked about the preseason finale and what the head coach thought of Kansas City's performance despite the loss. Reid expounded, offering Chiefs fans reason for further excitement heading into the year.
"I thought the ones on both sides of ball did well, I thought special teams was solid throughout the night, and it was good. It was good start all the way around."Andy Reid
Reid is unquestionably a player's coach and is going to praise his players at every chance. However, it is still promising to see the veteran coach offer an exciting report as fans prepare for a Friday night debut against the Chargers. It is a part of the NFL's international series, offering the Chiefs a chance to help the Eagles and Dallas Cowboys kick off the league's opening weekend.
While the Chargers are never fun to play, Mahomes and Reid have had a great recent run against the franchise and should continue it with the franchise clearly ready for a hot start to the 2025 season.
