The Kansas City Chiefs' season is all but over. And while there are still three more games to play, the team should focus on draft positioning and player development. Beyond that, they also need to evaluate everything that went wrong and make the necessary adjustments.

The fans have been discontent with the coaching staff for most of the season. And now, after falling to 6-8 and being eliminated from playoff contention, it seems like Andy Reid has finally reached his breaking point as well.

Andy Reid Hints at Major Changes After KC Eliminated

When asked about the overall campaign, how things fared, and their approach to the final three games, the future Hall of Famer didn't sound too happy with his supporting cast, and he finally talked about potentially shaking things up.

“We’re gonna finish these three games and then whoever is still here after, it’s time to retool it," the Hall of Fame head coach said, per Chiefs Blitz. This came right after he voiced his frustration with the way things unfolded this season:

"I'm not happy about it. Neither is anybody here. We strive for excellence. We try to do that every year. Things happen, though, in this league. There's a lot of parity, and sometimes you end up on the short end of it," Reid said, per Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports.

Patrick Mahomes' passer rating has dropped in almost every year under Matt Nagy. His career-low with Eric Bieniemy was 98.5, and he's logged 92.6, 93.5, and a career-worst 89.6 with Nagy. The offense has been way too reliant on Mahomes making a play, and they haven't done a good job of scheming teammates open. The offense has regressed drastically, and it's not just a matter of personnel.

Special teams coordinator Dave Toub should also be on the hot seat. Special teams have been a concern for this team all year long, and watching players like Skyy Moore flourish elsewhere indicates that the problem could be the guy calling the shots.

Last but not least, Steve Spagnuolo should continue to get the benefit of the doubt, given that he's one of the greatest -- if not the greatest -- defensive coordinators of all time. That being said, he needs to adapt and adjust his roster to try different things. Opposing teams have already caught up to his blitz-heavy schemes, and he desperately needs to shake things up to bring this dying pass-rush unit back to life.

This isn't the end of the world. The Chiefs will likely not be as good in 2026, which should give the front office enough time to assess things, retool the roster, and reshape the team for Mahomes' return. If that comes with a new coaching staff, so be it.
