One of the more surprising offseason stories for the Kansas City Chiefs was parting ways with guard Joe Thuney. Moving on from a key offensive piece, while the line remains the team's biggest concern, there is reason for a sense of belief in Andy Reid to piece it together. Twice, the Chiefs have had very questionable offensive lines and still managed to have their season end in the Super Bowl. As long as Patrick Mahomes is healthy, the franchise is going to figure out ways to win games. While it would be ideal to do this with better protection, it isn't panic time just yet.

One potential solution Reid is exploring is moving tackle Jaylon Moore to left guard. While Kingsley Suamataia is the expected starter, this seems to be a sign that the lineman still cannot be trusted. This was the case last season with his mistakes on consistent display. It cost the Chiefs in key moments and left the opposing defense with an obvious plan of attack. As long as Kingsley was on the field, there was an obvious weak spot teams could expose to attack Mahomes.

The Chiefs Are Attempting to Move Jaylon Moore Inside

Moore started his career with the San Francisco 49ers before signing a $30 million two-year deal with the Chiefs this past offseason. It isn't quite clear yet how the Kansas City starting line is going to look; however, Reid is interested in finding out if the team can gain more stability by moving Moore to the inside. While you aren't going to replace the impact of Thuney, you already have Trey Smith and Creed Humphrey doing much of the heavy lifting. The Chiefs simply need an average option who can be elevated by the duo's consistency.

How the Chiefs' offensive line starts the preseason will be telling, with Reid often putting his starters in to begin the scrimmages. It will offer Kansas City fans a look at how the team will attempt to fill the void left by Thuney's departure and if the franchise is already turning the page on Kingsley.

The Chiefs will kick off the preseason on August 9th on the road against the Arizona Cardinals. It will be the first real look Kansas City fans will get at what remains the biggest concern. If Reid can find a way to find stability from the offensive line, there is every reason to believe Kansas City's 2025 season will end in the Super Bowl yet again in what has a chance to be the best dynasty in league history.
