The Kansas City Chiefs clinched their seventh straight AFC Championship appearance on Saturday with a 23-14 victory over the Houston Texans. Following their victory, the team was awaiting the result of the Baltimore Ravens vs. Buffalo Bills on Sunday evening. Buffalo came out victorious in that game 27-25, setting up what's bound to be another instant classic with the Chiefs on championship Sunday.

That said, these two teams played in Week 11, with the Bills coming out in the top 30-21. Nonetheless, this result follows the trend that has been set in recent seasons of Buffalo beating Kansas City in the regular season and then losing to them in the playoffs. While the playoff game is still to come, Chiefs fans have every right to feel confident about a victory.

Even so, Kansas City's coaches and players can not afford to take this game lightly, as the Bills will take advantage of that. On Monday, head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media about what the team has learned since the last time they played Buffalo. According to Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports., Reid emphasized the importance of getting off the field on third down, saying, "You've got to be able to get off the field on third downs. We keep stressing that. Steve (Spagnuolo) does. You've got to get off the field, especially when you work so hard to put yourself in a good position."

Andy Reid Describes How Chiefs Can Beat Bills

Reid's comments can be applied to any game. However, the first time these two teams played, Buffalo converted 60% (9/15) of their third downs and 50% (1/2) of their fourth downs. Allowing Josh Allen and the Bills to be that efficient on crucial downs is never a good formula.

One key example from their first matchup was the 4th-and-two 26-yard touchdown scramble Allen had. This touchdown was ultimately what put the nail in the coffin for the Chiefs' chances of winning this game.

Like Reid said, the Chiefs defense must get off the field on third down on Sunday. If they can't the Chiefs will once again leave the game in Allen's hands, which didn't go well for them last time.

Conversely, giving the ball back to Patrick Mahomes and the offense provide the Chiefs the best chance to win. This highly intense matchup to see who will punch their way to the Super Bowl will be both stressful and fun to watch.
