3. Mike Pennel, DT

Kansas City is currently lacking depth on the defensive line, with only Chris Jones, Siaki Ika, and Fabien Lovett under contract on the interior.

A simple way to beef up the rotation is to bring back Mike Pennel.

At 6-foot-4 and 332 pounds, Pennel is a space-eater who clogs lanes and absorbs blockers—exactly what the Chiefs need up front. Despite creeping toward his 34th birthday, he’s coming off a surprisingly strong season.

Pennel recorded a career-high three sacks last year and didn’t miss a single tackle. He’s not a full-time player, but he’s a reliable rotational piece who won’t get pushed around.

4. Kareem Hunt, RB

One of the underrated holes the Chiefs need to fill this offseason is at running back.

Kareem Hunt led the team in carries last season with 200 attempts, while Isiah Pacheco was a distant second. Neither back exactly struck fear into defenses, as both averaged under four yards per carry—meaning Kansas City's ground game often felt more like a crawl.

So far, their only move at the position has been signing Elijah Mitchell. With Hunt still a free agent and likely available at a bargain, why not bring him back and turn the backfield into a three-man battle for next season?

5 and 6. Juju Smith-Schuster or Mecole Hardman, WRs

The Chiefs are working to upgrade Mahomes' supporting cast and recapture their offensive mojo.

Their primary focus has been the offensive line, where they’ve shuffled linemen more than a blackjack dealer on a hot streak. Their offseason moves have included trading Joe Thuney, signing Jaylon Moore, and re-signing Trey Smith.

At the skill positions, they’ve brought back Marquise Brown and signed tight end Robert Tonyan, but there’s still work to do.

Kansas City doesn’t need to bring back Juju Smith-Schuster or Mecole Hardman, but grabbing one would be a nice touch. Given that they already have two speedsters in Xavier Worthy and Brown, Smith-Schuster might be the better fit.
