3. Joshua Williams’ Future in Kansas City

With the Chiefs needing another wide receiver, they could look to trade Joshua Williams. The former fourth-round pick hasn’t played a defensive snap since Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Instead, Williams has spent the last three games, exclusively playing special teams (19 snaps vs. Atlanta, 20 snaps vs. Chargers, 17 snaps vs. Saints). The former Fayetteville State defender was expected to compete for the CB2 job opposite Trent McDuffie in training camp.

However, Jaylen Watson won the CB2 job and has played well this season (51.7 completion percentage allowed on targets and 73.9 pass rating allowed when targeted). It’s tough to see Williams seeing any defensive snaps if Watson continues to play well.

The 24-year-old cornerback is still on his rookie contract, making him attractive to a team such as the Panthers, who need and are looking for young talent in the secondary. Williams isn’t a lost cause but could be off the roster before next month’s trade deadline.
