The Kansas City Chiefs made several moves to improve their roster during the NFL draft, adding seven new players to the fold. Certain selections, like Mansoor Delane, Peter Woods, R Mason Thomas, and Emmett Johnson, could certainly make an impact in Year 1.

While that can be exciting, the Chiefs have also scoured the undrafted FA market to bring on additional developmental prospects to the roster. As of this writing, Kansas City has signed 10 undrafted players, but three players have a real shot at making the 53-man roster.

1. Jaydn Ott, RB, Oklahoma

This offseason, the Chiefs hired DeMarco Murray as their new running backs coach. Even though he has no NFL experience, he was with the Oklahoma Sooners from 2020 to 2025, where he crossed paths with Jaydn Ott.

Ott transferred from Cal to Oklahoma but shockingly didn't play as much in 2025, suiting up in seven games and posting 68 rushing yards. Before his time with Oklahoma, he made plays with the Golden Bears. In 34 appearances with Cal, he racked up 2,597 rushing yards, 736 receiving yards, and 30 total touchdowns, providing a more complete picture of what he can bring to the table.

Ott has talent, without question, and with a former coach in Murray already in the building, the rookie has a familiar face to lean on. Kansas City did add Kenneth Walker III, Emari Demercado, and Emmett Johnson this offseason. They should easily fill in the 1-3 pecking order on the depth chart, but the RB4 spot is up for grabs.

Brashard Smith is still on the team, but he didn't show much in 2025, totaling 44 carries for 151 rushing yards (3.4 yards per carry). Smith added 25 catches for 172 receiving yards and a score. The SMU product isn't a lock to make the roster, which opens the door for Ott to make an impact. With a strong offseason and training camp, Ott could carve out a roster spot and bump Smith off the team.

2. Omari Evans, WR, Washington

The Chiefs also added receiver Omari Evans as an undrafted free agent. Receiver was an area where Kansas City could have used some extra resources, but didn't take one until the fifth round, in Cincinnati, WR Cyrus Allen. Nonetheless, there's room for Evans to get a roster spot.

Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Tyquan Thornton, and Jalen Royals are the only locks at receiver, which opens the door for someone like Evans. At Washington's Pro Day, Evans clocked a 4.28 40-yard dash and logged a 41-inch vertical jump. Those are eye-popping numbers, which ultimately helped get Evans into the building.

During his collegiate career, he had 47 catches for 818 receiving yards (17.4 yards per reception) and eight touchdowns. While he never had more than 415 receiving yards in a season, he has flashed the ability to create chunk plays. That's appealing to a Chiefs offense. Evans has room to make plays and fight for a roster spot as a depth option. Kansas City isn't locked in at that position, which opens the door for Evans.

3. Pete Nygra, OL, Louisville

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Chiefs signed Louisville OL Pete Nygra and gave him $260,000 in guaranteed money. The fact that he was given that much money shows that they view him in high regard.

Over five years, Nygra played for Northern Illinois and Louisville. Across both spots, he played center and was fairly good. In 3,212 total blocking snaps and 1,649 pass-blocking snaps, Nygra allowed just two sacks and 45 total pressures.

Those are great stats and show how he can be stable. While he played center in the NFL, there's a chance Kansas City trains him to be a guard. That would give him the versatility to be a great depth piece along the interior and allow him to step in if any of Creed Humphrey, Kingsley Suamataia, or Trey Smith go down. The Chiefs clearly like what he can bring to the table, and he's a player that fans could expect to make the final roster come August.
