For the first time in eleven years, the Kansas City Chiefs are 0-2 to start a season. The last time that happened, they finished the season with a 9-7 record and failed to make the playoffs.
That's not to say that this will be the case again this season, especially considering that both losses have been close and against high-end competition. Nevertheless, this team needs to act swiftly and make adjustments to straighten the course of the ship.
Of course, that goes for everybody, from the coaching staff all the way to the players. But as much as this was a collective effort, three players might have a little more blame than others. With that in mind, we'll talk about the three most frustrating Chiefs players in the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
3. Isiah Pacheco
Once a hungry and physical running back, Isiah Pacheco has now been a non-factor twice in as many games this season. He was inefficient and managed just 22 rushing yards on a team-high ten carries, with the longest going for seven yards. He also had one reception on two targets for seven yards.
Pacheco got outplayed by Kareem Hunt again. He's lost his edge and his aggressiveness, and with the receivers corps being so decimated, the Chiefs desperately need to get some help on the ground to keep the chains in motion. If he keeps this up, he might not even finish his rookie contract in Kansas City.
2. George Karlaftis
Late in July, the Chiefs gave George Karlaftis a four-year contract extension worth a whopping $93 million with $62 million guaranteed. That put him in the top 15 of the highest-paid defensive ends in the league.
Fast forward to today, and Karlaftis has a grand total of three tackles and 1.0 sacks through two games. The Eagles' offensive line kept manhandling him and overpowering him over and over, and he failed to put any sort of pressure on Jalen Hurts.
1. Travis Kelce
Travis Kelce is a future first-ballot Hall of Famer and one of the greatest tight ends to ever lace them up. He's also shown flashes of his former self this season. However, he may have also cost the Chiefs two wins with his fourth-quarter blunders.
Kelce is a proven veteran, and he just has to make those catches. He's been trusted in those situations for a reason, and there's just no excuse for him not to finish those plays. Chiefs fans ought to be grateful to him forever, but if he doesn't have it anymore, he also owes it to the fans and his teammates to call it quits.
