It's been a great start to the 2024 season for the Kansas City Chiefs, whose quest to win a third-straight Super Bowl hasn't been heavily challenged up to this point. The Chiefs haven't exactly been steam-rolling everybody they've faced, but the fact that they have been winning despite all of the injuries that have plagued them dating back to the preseason speaks volumes to the talent and depth on this roster.

And as the season progresses, the Chiefs are going to have to figure out logistics of the roster with players coming back from injury and taking up 53-man roster spots.

We always expect a contender of the Chiefs' caliber to be involved in buying at the NFL trade deadline, but what players could we see the Chiefs potentially move on from at this year's deadline? Let's take a look at a trio of players who could be on the outside looking in if the Chiefs get the right offer coming their way.

3 Chiefs players who could be traded before the 2024 deadline

1. Samaje Perine, running back

The Chiefs have been dealing with quite a bit of shuffling at the running back position already this season, and they might prefer to have a player like Perine late in the year and in the postseason, where he's come up with some big plays.

But given the re-emergence of Kareem Hunt in Kansas City's offense as well as the team's love for young Carson Steele, I could see someone like Perine being on the outs at one point or another.

Perine is a solid veteran, but he's already getting out-snapped and out-touched by Hunt, and Perine might not be in the team's plans if/when players like Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire are welcomed back. The Chiefs would have to be pretty certain of the availability of those guys, but it's very much a possibility that Perine could be dealt to a running back-needy team by the deadline.
