2. JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR

The Chiefs' wide receiver room is suddenly overflowing with potential — a welcome sight after a couple of seasons where Kansas City's passing game felt more sputter than spark.

It starts at the top with Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. Each brings a different flavor of playmaking: Rice is the steady mover of the chains, while Worthy has jet fuel in his cleats. Their complementary styles should create fireworks for Patrick Mahomes.

Kansas City also re-signed Marquise Brown to inject even more speed into the offense. Brown can pop the top off a defense in a blink, stretching the field and opening up the underneath routes for Rice, Worthy, and Travis Kelce to feast.

Then came another shiny addition: Jalen Royals, snagged in the fourth round.

Royals might be under the national radar after playing at Utah State, but he has the production to back up his upside. Over the last two seasons, he posted 126 receptions for 1,914 yards and 21 touchdowns — and nobody in the FBS had more catches of 50-plus yards during that span. He’s a big-play merchant, plain and simple.

That leaves JuJu Smith-Schuster walking a tightrope. Kansas City now has depth at receiver, and Smith-Schuster, with a minimal cap hit, could be the odd man out if he doesn't hit the ground running in 2025.

3. Joshua Williams, CB

Joshua Williams is another veteran feeling the heat heading into training camp.

The Chiefs weren't thrilled with their cornerback production last season outside of Trent McDuffie. To fortify the secondary, Kansas City spent a third-round pick on Nohl Williams, a feisty, tough-nosed defender straight out of the Steve Spagnuolo mold.

Nohl Williams plays like he’s allergic to soft coverage, and he'll waste no time pushing for immediate playing time. That could shove Joshua Williams further down the depth chart — or off the roster entirely if he can't hold his ground.

It’s shaping up to be a survival-of-the-fittest summer in Kansas City’s secondary. Joshua Williams better be ready for a fight.
