3 Chiefs Making it Easy for Kansas City to Say Goodbye in 2025
3. Nazeeh Johnson - CB
One of the biggest areas of focus this offseason for the Kansas City Chiefs was the cornerback position. Of course, the Chiefs have one of the better corners in the game in Trent McDuffie, but due to their salary cap situation, they had to say goodbye to L'Jarius Sneed, who was unquestionably their best defensive back previously.
Debate a wall.
The Chiefs traded Sneed to the Tennessee Titans who then gave him a massive contract extension, but I'm sure Chiefs GM Brett Veach is kicking himself and wondering how he could have crunched the numbers differently in order to bring Sneed back, because Nazeeh Johnson is not cutting it.
If it weren't for Wanya Morris at the left tackle position, Nazeeh Johnson might be public enemy number one in Chiefs Kingdom. The former 7th-round pick has allowed a QB rating into his coverage of 101.2 this season, the worst on the Chiefs at the cornerback position.
We're likely going to see the Chiefs put a huge emphasis on the cornerback position in the 2025 offseason, whether through free agency, the NFL Draft, or both. They put some faith in their young guys this offseason but there wasn't even really much clarity after the preseason outside of Trent McDuffie.
On Black Friday, we actually saw the Chiefs pull Johnson from the game in favor of Joshua Williams, so perhaps the Chiefs are internally already preparing to move on.
