2. Patrick Peterson

Once upon a time, Patrick Peterson was considered to be perhaps the NFL's best cornerback. Chiefs Kingdom desperately wanted Kansas City to acquire him early in Patrick Mahomes' career and while that didn't happen, it's never too late to make things right.

Peterson has 13 years of experience. He's certainly near the end of the road yet could provide similar veteran savvy that Howard could while helping coach up the Chiefs' young players. He wasn't a major difference-maker for the Steelers in 2023 though still started 16 games and deflected 11 passes.

Considering he's just a free agent, Kansas City could quickly cut ties if the acquisition didn't work out.

It's possible that Peterson has decided to hang up his cleats, though he said recently that he'd be open to playing for the Vikings. Given the Chiefs' stranglehold on the AFC, why not chase a ring on the league's best team?

The eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro would instantly become the most accomplished cornerback on the team. Alongside Trent McDuffie under Steve Spagnuolo's tutelage, perhaps Peterson could turn back the clock.
