3 Big Takeaways From Chiefs' Week 9 Overtime Win vs. Buccaneers

3. The Defense is Still Elite Despite First Real Wart
Despite being without their top three receivers, Tampa Bay still marched down the field in the fourth quarter to tie it. If not for Todd Bowles' questionable decision to kick an extra point instead of go for the win, Kansas City easily could've walked away with a loss.
It was the defense's first "bad" game, though it's worth noting the streak of allowing fewer than 28 points every game since the Eagles Super Bowl stayed alive. There's been so much asked and expected of the defense over the last two years, it was surprising to see Steve Spagnuolo's unit falter.
That said, there's no reason to be concerned. Chris Jones was a monster up front all night, George Karlaftis had his third straight game with a sack, Justin Reid flew all over the field, and new acquisition Josh Uche routinely created pressure in limited snaps.
Charles Omenihu and Mike Danna should both be healthy in the near future, and Jaylen Watson won't be gone too terribly long. We know what this defense is capable of. Once both the defense and offense put forth their best games, which hopefully won't be until the Super Bowl, this will be an unbeatable roster.
Jones is a legitimate Defensive Player of the Year candidate. Provided he's on the field, this will always be a great defense. Once it gets healthier, it'll remain perhaps the best in the entire league.
