Kansas Jayhawks fans couldn’t ask for a better start through two weeks with a 2-0 record, outscoring opponents 82-40.

Most would point to the excellent play of Jason Bean and Jalon Daniels as the propellers of this engine, but there’s one surprising factor equally responsible for Kansas’ sparkling first two weeks.

If you pair great quarterback play with a great pass rush, great things tend to happen.

Kansas Pass Rush Dominance

With seven sacks and 18 tackles-for-loss on the season, the Jayhawks’ defensive line has been among the nation’s best.

After a promising season last year that ultimately came undone by poor defense and injuries, these first two weeks have been extremely promising.

Junior Jereme Robinson has three sacks on the year already, equaling his total from last year, while JB Brown and Marvin Grant have looked strong as well.

We already knew that Kansas would have one of the nation’s best offenses barring injury, so to see pressure from up front at this level defensively raises the possible ceiling for this team. Fans dreaming of a potential Big 12 title or upwards of nine or 10 wins have to be thrilled, especially with a light matchup against Nevada coming up this weekend.

The Jayhawks are in great shape to post their best season in over a decade. If the pass rush maintains anything close to this level of dominance, I’d start planning your parties in Lawrence right now.
