Andy Reid is unanimously considered one of the NFL’s best coaches after hosting five consecutive AFC Championship games and winning two Super Bowls with Kansas City.

Given his offensive genius and dazzling track record, you’d think he’d be among the favorites to win the NFL Coach of the Year award, yet betting markets instead are wildly disrespected the future Hall of Famer.

Andy Reid Coach of the Year Odds

This is a travesty. Odds of +5000 at FanDuel give Reid the worst odds to win the award in the entire league!

All he’s done over the last five years is go 64-18 in the regular season and win a pair of rings while continuously reinventing the offense with some of the most efficient production in history. No big deal, right?

To make matters worse, Reid’s Coach of the Year odds are on par with Derek Carr and Trey Lance’s to win MVP and Lance isn’t even a starting quarterback. The most insulting indictment by oddsmakers, though, is that the Broncos have better odds to win the Super Bowl than Reid does to win Coach of the Year!

Denver hasn’t beaten the Chiefs since the Obama administration and we all saw the disaster when Russell Wilson took over the kitchen last year. You’re telling me somehow that Mr. “Let’s Ride” has a better chance at winning a trophy than Big Red?

Blasphemy.

The Chiefs are rightful Super Bowl favorites, in large part due to Andy Reid. This award has, for years, been given to the coach of whatever team surprises the most in the regular season. In that sense, Reid being such a longshot is a compliment since oddsmakers expect excellence.

Nonetheless, it’s a misguided interpretation of the award. Coach of the Year should reward the best coach that season, plain and simple. There’s not a chance this side of the river that Reid has the worst likelihood at being the league’s top coach.

Who else is pulling plays from the custodial staff? He’s constantly tinkering with his offense and evolving with modern trends. In fact, I think he’ll go down as the best offensive coach to ever live.

It’s time to give Reid the recognition he deserves and rethink the NFL’s Coach of the Year award because this nonsense can’t stand anymore. Putting Andy at the same level as the darn Broncos? Nonsense.
