Mahomes is a perfect 5-0 in Week 1, leading the Chiefs to at least 33 points in every contest. Four of those five wins came up double-digits, but a closer look at Mahomes’ performances shows why Detroit should be terrified.

Patrick Mahomes’ Week 1 Dominance

In Mahomes’ first year starting, he threw for 256 yards and four TDs in a win over the Chargers. The following year, he led the Chiefs to 40 points vs. Jacksonville while passing for 378 yards and another three scores.

In 2020, Mahomes threw three more TDs in a 34-20 win over Houston, then passed for 337 yards, three TDs and rushed for another against the Browns. Last year, the Chiefs won 44-21 as Mahomes threw for 365 yards and a whopping five touchdowns.

During five Week 1 games, Mahomes has thrown for 1,547 yards, 18 TDs, and 0 INTs while completing over 72% of his passes and adding a rushing TD as well. Bar none, it’s the most consistently dominant early-season stretch of any quarterback we’ve seen.

The Lions made significant improvements to their defense this season, but they can’t keep pace with a fire-breathing dragon like Mahomes in Week 1.
