Sporting KC hopes to bounce back from a disappointing 1-0 loss to Chicago last week, hosting the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday at 7:30 PM CST in a rematch of a 1-1 tie last month.

This is a pivotal matchup as Sporting sits just four points behind the Whitecaps in the standings and could pull within one point of the West’s final playoff spot with a win.

Vancouver has just one loss in its previous five matches and picked up an impressive 3-2 victory over LA FC last weekend.

Riding the emotional high of that win, Vancouver could be due for a let-down and I like Sporting’s chances tomorrow. Let’s check out the odds before I explain why.

Sporting KC vs. Vancouver Prediction and Pick

Despite each club’s form over the last couple of weeks, Sporting is a sizeable favorite at home. KC has dominated this matchup historically, going 6-2-2 in its last 10 at home against the Whitecaps.

They’ll hope to ride the steady feet of Alan Pulido, fresh off being named the June MLS Player of the Month with six goals in five matches. He’ll be a major X-factor once again in this game.

Pulido has four goals across three career matches against Vancouver, though Sporting will likely rely on Daniel Salloi’s smooth touch as well.

Sporting will have scoring opportunities, as the Whitecaps have allowed at least one goal in six consecutive matches. Despite being shut out last week, KC is still averaging two goals per game over its previous seven.

Given the history between these teams, it’s worth noting that Sporting controlled the game last month before allowing Vancouver to escape with a draw after a penalty in the 88th minute. As long as KC can avoid a mental lapse and stay focused, the home team should finish the job this time.

Back Sporting to rebound with an impressive victory over the streaking Whitecaps to firmly put itself in the playoff hunt.
