The KC Current host the Chicago Red Stars tonight at 7:00 PM CST hoping to improve to 2-1 in the UKG Challenge Cup.

Chicago defeated the Current 4-2 back in April but has yet to record a point through two Challenge Cup matches. KC midfielder Morgan Gautrat is expected to see her first major minutes for the Current after coming from the Red Stars as a free agent.

The match will be broadcast live on Paramount+ or you can listen to it on KC Current Radio on the KC Current app.

Can Gautrat help lead the Current to victory at home against her former squad? Let’s take a look at the latest betting odds before jumping into my betting pick for the contest.

KC Current vs Chicago Red Stars Odds, Spread, and Total

KC Current vs Chicago Red Stars Prediction and Pick

The Current have two straight Challenge Cup wins over the Red Stars by a combined score of 4-2, so the home side is favored with good reason.

Gautrat’s addition should provide a boost to the struggling Current. The youngest member of the 2015 U.S. Women’s World Cup team, Gautrat is an experienced, steady presence in the midfield with eight career goals and 11 assists for the national team.

Kansas City’s defense will be a major factor as well, having held five of its last six opponents to two goals or fewer. Chicago, meanwhile, just surrendered five goals to North Carolina in its last contest. The Red Stars have only three goals in their last six matches combined, so the Current may only need to net one or two to emerge victorious.

As the Current hope to build momentum to close the year strong, these are the kinds of matches they need to win. Expect a sterling defensive effort that leads Kansas City to its third straight Challenge Cup victory over Chicago.
