Jody Fortson

Another current rostered player for the Chiefs, Jody Fortson, offers a change of pace.

Jody Fortson would not be your permanent replacement for Travis Kelce but he can definitely offer aspects to this Chiefs offense that Kelce currently contributes. Fortson is a third year converted wide receiver who is currently on the Injured List after tearing his achilles during the 2021 season in a game against Washington.

Coming out of Valdosta State in 2019, Kansas City Chiefs have kept Fortson on the practice squad until this season where he finally cracked the fifty three man roster after an exciting offseason and preseason performance. Jody Fortson stands at 6’6” and weighs in at 240 lbs. The twenty six year old tight end has been a fan favorite for a couple years now so seeing him get his chance was exciting and then just as devastating when he went down.

Coming back from a torn achilles is no easy feat for anyone, let alone a professional football player. If Fortson can return back to the player he was before going down, he possesses a real chance for some playing over the next few years. Fortson won’t be your immediate impact player or even take over for Kelce but he would allow the Chiefs to use him in relief to help prolong his (Kelce) career and spell him for when he does need the occasional breather.
