The No. 4 Jayhawks Win against North Texas on Thanksgiving Day

For many Kansas Jayhawk fans, the morning consisted of preparing food for a Thanksgiving feast. The Jayhawks would be preparing for a game against North Texas in Orlando, Florida. Kansas was prepared after winning 88-59 over Stony Brook at home. The showdown between North Texas and Kansas would be the first at ESPN Events Invitational inside the HP Field House at the incredible ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. KU would come out victorious 71-59.
Kansas would fall to No. 4 in the AP Poll but, that did not matter for the Jayhawks. They would shoot 26-of-51 from the floor (51%). For the majority of the game, KU would play good defense holding North Texas to 4-27 (14.8%) from the 3-point line. Three Kansas players would score in double digits as the Jayhawks improve to 4-0 on the season and 4-0 all-time in the ESPN Events Invitational.
Jayhawk Hits 1,000 Career Points Milestone
Senior Ochai Agbaji would hit a 3-point shot making him the 63rd player in Kansas basketball history with 1,000 career points. He would log 33:05 minutes and lead the team in scoring with 18 points. Agbaji would shoot 6-12 from the floor and 2-3 from the 3-point line. He would add two rebounds and two assists. After the game, Ochai Agbaji is currently 3rd in NCAA men’s basketball in points. He is averaging 24.8 points per game. Currently, Keegan Murray from Iowa and Javon Freeman-Liberty from DePaul is ahead of him.
Christian Braun Is Heating up for the Jayhawks
Junior Christian Braun is playing good basketball and continues to look more comfortable each game. He would play for 29:34 and is one of the Jayhawks to hit double digits, scoring a season-high 16 points. He was an impressive 6-of-8 from the floor (75%). Braun would add five rebounds and one steal. He continues to contribute each game and is logging similar minutes to Agbaji.
Jalen Wilson Contributes to the Jayhawk Victory
Redshirt-sophomore Jalen Wilson suited up and entered the game off the bench for the first time this season. Adding another skilled player to an already elite roster is incredible for head coach Bill Self. Wilson would log 18:06 going 3-of-4 from the field (75%), finishing with 7 points. He would add five rebounds and four assists.
Jayhawks Take On the Dayton Flyers
The Kansas Jayhawks will play their second game in the ESPN Events Invitational at 12:30 P.M. (CT) against the Dayton Flyers (2-3). The game will be aired on ESPN and called by Jon Sciambi, Dick Vitale, and Chris Spatola. Kansas looks to improve to 5-0 on the season.
