Kansas Senior Ochai Agbaji Named Big 12 Player of the Week

Ochai Agbaji decided to return to Kansas after testing the NBA draft process. Since the 2021-2022 season has kicked off, Agbaji has been very impressive on the court. So much so that he was named Big 12 Player of the Week. This is the first week that the award can be issued. In Agbaji’s career at Kansas, this is the second time he has earned Big 12 honors.

Ochai Agbaji Scores Career High 29 Points

Kansas opened the season against Michigan State inside Madison Square Garden in the State Farm Champions Classic. The Jayhawks would win the game, 87-74 over, the Spartans. In that game, Ochai Agbaji would score a career-high 29 points. He would also add two rebounds and one assist. He was 8-8 from the free-throw line and shot 3-6 from the 3-point line. The senior would play 36:30, which speaks to his presence on the court.

Another Impressive Performance from Ochai Agbaji

The next game for the Jayhawks was the home opener inside historic Allen Fieldhouse. The fans and students brought the energy as KU defeated Tarleton State 88-62. Agbaji was yet again impressive as he would score 25 points, add six rebounds and one assist. He was 0-1 from the free-throw line and shot 3-7 from the 3-point line. His minutes diminished just slightly as he would play 34:37.

Ochai Agbaji Big 12 Player of the Week

Ochai Agbaji has elevated his game, and in the 2021-2022 season, he is averaging 27.0 points per game. He is averaging four rebounds per game. His stat line is impressive. Agbaji is 20-33 from the field for a .606 field goal percentage. He is 6-13 from the 3-point line, which is .462%. One of the most important stats is the ability to knock down a free throw. Och is 8-9 from the foul line for a .889%. He has played in 71:07, averaging 35.6 minutes per game. To wrap out this emphatic stat line, he has committed zero turnovers.
