Heading into the 2021 NFL season the Kansas City Chiefs were highly regarded and, in some cases, feared.  Fast forward to Week 8 and the Chiefs completely missed expectations.  They have the most turnovers given to the opponent with 19.  The offense seems to be miss firing, and the defense is one of the worst in the NFL.  Fans are in disbelief and rightfully have questions and concerns.

How can the Kansas City Chiefs resurrect the 2021 season?

Patrick Mahomes Needs to Return to MVP Form

The Kansas City Chiefs are fully equipped to score at a very high rate.  The offense is led by 2018 MVP Patrick Mahomes.  In September 2020 he became the fastest quarterback to reach 10,000 passing yards completing this task in his 49th game.  He was able to accomplish another milestone when he became the fastest to 100 touchdown passes.  Mahomes would shatter the record previously set by Dan Marino.  This record has stood the test of time for 34 years until Patrick Mahomes claimed it in 2020.  As a starter, he has led this Chiefs team to the playoffs each season.  In that stretch going to two Super Bowls and winning one.

As you are reading this you might say what does this have to do with 2021.  Mahomes has displayed uncharacteristic type play.  He has thrown 10 interceptions and has fumbled 5 times.

The team in general is leading the NFL in turnovers to the opponent with 19.  For a high-powered offense to be just that they must reduce turnovers.  He must regain form and run the offense that was so feared the last 3 seasons.  One way they can resurrect the season is to utilize the run game which then allows Mahomes to open the throwing lanes.
