Week 2 is here. Which Big 12 football games are worth watching this week?

The 2021 college football season welcomed back fans, at home and in stadiums, and it was beautiful. The action on the field was all over the spectrum for an opening week, ranging from the defensive snoozefest that was Penn State vs. Wisconsin, or Tulane nearly upsetting Oklahoma in Norman.

It was certainly a close call for the Big 12 favorite.

Some teams’ preseason hype did not materialize to start the season, while others started their march to conference and national championship aspirations. The beauty of early-season records is that schools like Montana and Kansas have the same record as Alabama and Georgia. Anything is still possible for many teams in the early season.

With opening week jitters calmed and the college football landscape a bit clearer, week 2 is upon us. Which Big 12 teams are in for great games this week?

Week 2 features many easy games for some programs, such as Oklahoma vs. Western Carolina or Alabama vs. Mercer. However, there are two AP Top 25 matchups, with Ohio State vs. Oregon and Iowa State vs. Iowa. Both of those games will have a direct impact on the college football playoff picture, possibly knocking two teams out of contention altogether.

Most of this week’s games in the Big 12 may not garner national attention, but there are still three key games to watch this week. Which teams will gain more momentum entering conference competition?
