The Kansas State football team has found itself favored over Stanford for the Wildcats’ season opener.

As the Kansas State football team prepares for the start of the 2021 season, the Wildcats happen to be favored in their season opener. Kansas State will get the season started with its game against the Stanford Cardinal and oddsmakers seem to think the Wildcats can win the neutral site game.

While ESPN’s Football Power Index didn’t favor the Kansas State football team in this game in the preseason and Bill Connelly’s SP+ preseason rankings weren’t real high on the Wildcats, oddsmakers apparently think K-State has a decent shot of beating Stanford.

According to WynnBET, the Kansas State football team is a three point favorite over the Stanford Cardinal. Given that neither team will have a home field advantage in this game, it makes sense that oddsmakers would keep the spread close on this game.

The over/under for the game is currently set at 53 points.

Kansas State football: Wildcats favored in 2021 season opener against Stanford Cardinal

While the two teams both had up and down seasons in 2020, Stanford ended last season on a much higher note than Kansas State did. The Wildcats finished 2020 with a five-game losing streak while the Cardinal won its final four games of the 2020 season.

But, Kansas State is getting a ton back after being bit by the injury bug multiple times throughout last season. Obviously, most notably, seasoned veteran quarterback Skylar Thompson will be back this year. Getting Thompson back could make a significant difference for the Wildcats in 2021.

The Kansas State Wildcats and the Stanford Cardinal will play in one of the first games on Saturday. The game, which is set in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will be broadcast on FS1 and is set to start at 11 a.m.
