Would the Kansas City Chiefs be interested in Stephon Gilmore?

The Kansas City Chiefs have made some great moves in assembling the cornerback position. But a move to add Stephon Gilmore in either a trade or pick-up would only make this secondary that much better. Gilmore who was 2019 Defensive Player of the Year, had surgery to repair a torn quad and is currently on the PUP list. If needed Gilmore could be placed on the IR and return when healthy.

This would be a tremendous add for a playoff push. I have said many times on my YouTube channel “The Beat of Kansas City” the Chiefs’ secondary will be going against some phenomenal wideouts and tight ends this season.

Adding Stephon Gilmore who is on the last year of his 5 year $65,000,000 deal would only boost the cornerback position.

He will be 32 years old and would be playing for another contract. Brett Veach has made similar moves in the past this could be the card that reveals a full house.

What about Latavius Murray? Could the Kansas City Chiefs benefit from having another running back?

The Kansas City Chiefs have had some injuries occur in the backfield. Of these injuries, nothing is serious but it has raised the question about depth at the running back position. The New Orleans Saints have one of the premier dual threats in the league in Alvin Kamara and with up and coming running back Tony Jones Jr. along with the addition of veteran Devonta Freeman.

The odd man out of that situation would be Latavius Murray.

Murray has some history in the AFC West when he was drafted in 2013 in the 6th round by the Oakland Raiders. If the New Orleans Saints cut Latavius Murray, it would save them roughly $3,000,000.

Should Murray be available, it may not be a bad idea for the Kansas City Chiefs to consider adding him to their roster.
