No. 2: Florida Gators

The way the 2020 season ended was certainly less than ideal for the Florida Gators. This is a team that looked like it could compete for a national title throughout most of the season and then the Gators went out and lost their last three games to end the season at 8-4.

So how does head coach Dan Mullen follow up on that season?

The Gators get this spot because they’re the second most talented team in the SEC East and they could very well have the most innovative head coach leading them.

Mullen has a brilliant offensive mind, but none of that may matter if Todd Grantham’s defense fails to live up to its potential.

The lack of a consistent defense was one key reason as to why the Gators underachieved last year. This season could feature a bit of a step back in terms of offensive production for Florida, so Grantham’s defense must be better if the Gators are going to do better this year.

Not helping Florida’s case is the fact that the Gators have a fairly difficult schedule this season. But, 10 wins during the regular season aren’t out of the question if the ball bounces UF’s way a couple times.
