No. 1: Kansas State football vs. Oklahoma Sooners

The Oklahoma Sooners should be a national championship contending team in 2021. This is a group that should be clearly among the best in the country this year. It doesn’t matter that K-State has won the past couple of games against Oklahoma.

This is obvious, but this is a game that Kansas State will have to be more than prepared for.

If the Wildcats are going to beat the Sooners for a third time in as many seasons, it’ll likely have to be as a result of some luck and some mistakes on Oklahoma’s part.

The Wildcats will get the benefit of playing this game in Manhattan, but this being a home game doesn’t drastically change the difficulty of trying to defeat a juggernaut like the Sooners. That’s especially true when considering that, one week prior to this game, Kansas State will be on the road facing the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Oklahoma is currently on an eight-game winning streak, including a 55-20 win over Florida in the Fiesta Bowl, and the Sooners should get off to a hot start in 2021. With any luck, West Virginia might slow the Sooners down a bit in the week before Kansas State faces them.

But one of the biggest things that could work in Kansas State’s favor is the fact that the Sooners will be facing Texas just one week after they play the Wildcats.

If Oklahoma somehow overlooks Kansas State (again), there’s a chance the Wildcats could make this game interesting (again). And If Kansas State can make this game interesting, they’ll almost certainly have a shot to cause some chaos.

We’ll see what happens though. After K-State handed Oklahoma losses twice in the last two seasons, will the Sooners really overlook this team again?
