Sporting Kansas City claims sole possession of 1st place in the Western Conference as head coach Peter Vermes claimed his 200th win

Sporting Kansas City put on an absolute clinic in its 4-1 victory over the LA Galaxy.  From the opening whistle, SKC was on the attack an absolute incredible showing against a very good LA Galaxy team.

With the victory Sporting Kansas City earns 3 points and places them on the throne at the top of the Western Conference final overtaking the Seattle Sounders FC.

Sporting Kansas City is now 10-4-3 and has earned a total of 33 points.

Alan Pulido returns from the Mexican National Team after participating in the Gold Cup.  Alan wasted no time getting reacquainted with his teammates from SKC.  Pulido was aggressive on the push and would end up scoring the first goal for Sporting Kansas City in the 20’ minute.

This goal came after a nasty collision of Sporting Kansas City’s forward Khiry Shelton and LA Galaxy’s goalie Tomas Romero.

With the return of Pulido he brings experience, and that was on full display throughout the night.

First goal scored for his SKC career

Sporting Kansas City continued on the attack and for the first half of the match it really felt like the ball was on LA Galaxy’s side.  The most impressive player of the night was Dániel Sallói who would assist Luis Martins for his first career goal in a Sporting Kansas City uniform.  This goal came in the 28’ minute of the match.

The All-Star put on a show for Sporting Kansas City

It was not over for Sporting Kansas City and they continued to pour it on.  Not only did Dániel Sallói have an assist but he scored a goal as well, and it seemed so easy.  Graham Zusi kicked a beautiful cross into the center of the box where Sallói was there to receive it, and just obliterate the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal.

During the game announcer Nate Bukaty informed the viewers that Sallói would be representing Sporting Kansas City in the MLS All-Star game.  Sallói is the first SKC academy product selected to an MLS All-Star game.

The final goal and the 200th win for Sporting Kansas City head coach Peter Vermes

SKC was not done scoring and Graham Zusi was not done assisting his teammates.  In one of the most incredible goals scored Zusi would yet again send a cross over to the center of the box and there to receive it was Gadi Kinda.

Kinda was facing towards midfield, and would head the ball in the bottom right corner over a defender.  The final score would end up 4-1 with SKC the victor, but this victory had a little bit more juice.

This would be Head Coach Peter Vermes’ 200th win.  This would also give SKC enough points to overtake Seattle for first place in the Western conference.  Such a big night for Sporting Kansas City, its head coach, and the fans.

Sporting Kansas City will look to continue successful trend into the next game against Western conference fourth-place team the Colorado Rapids.  This game will take place in Colorado on Saturday at 8 P.M. CST.
