Scott Barlow can provide versatility in the bullpen

The third player I see being traded has really been a staple in the Kansas City Royals’ bullpen.  Scott Barlow not only could be in a Head and Shoulders commercial, but he also pitches well in many different roles of the Royals’ bullpen.

One of the amazing things about Barlow is he could be getting a save one night or called up in a key situation in the 7th inning.  Barlow is 28-years-old and will be entering into arbitration years.  With that being said he will not be an unrestricted free agent until 2025 at the age of 32.  He has posted a 2.76 ERA this year with 6 saves.

Since the All-Star break, Barlow has pitched in 5 games posting a 1.42 ERA with 2 saves.  Scoots McGoots, as some call him, has been used in every facet of a bullpen. If he gets the opportunity to end up with a contender, there’s a chance that Barlow may develop a role and shine even more.

Bullpen arms are a hot commodity at the trade deadline and Barlow is a perfect example of that.  The Kansas City Royals fanbase witnessed what very good bullpens can do in the post season in 2014 and 2015.

Herrera, Holland, and Davis, but also plugging in Hochevar in key situations was an easement for Royals fans.
