How will the Kansas City Chiefs’ defense be impacted by the Frank Clark drama?

While the first two storylines are about improvements among the offensive side of the ball, the Chiefs defense has recently been playing damage control in the off season with the continuing drama surrounding defensive end Frank Clark.

The high energy defensive end has dealt with serious legal issues following an arrest. According to reports, Clark has been charged with felony weapons possession.

Clark has shown to be a very valuable piece to this Chiefs defense, primarily in the postseason over these last two years, and it will be up to Chris Jones and Tyrann Mathieu to continue to keep the defense focused on what is happening on the field, rather than what is happening off of it.

Andy Reid said in a recent interview last week that Frank Clark will actually be at training camp in a recent interview with the Kansas City Star, so it will be very interesting to see how the unit as a whole is affected by the situation.

It is unfortunate that the Chiefs defensive offseason storyline has been clouded so much by the situation surrounding Clark.

Unfortunately, this has taken away from the excitement surrounding the young secondary that showed much promise last season. Former fourth round pick L’jarius Sneed and undrafted corner Charvarius Ward showing potential to piece together a very impressive season paired alongside standout safeties Tyrann Mathieu and Daniel Sorenson.

If you are going to be attending training camp in person this year, watching the potential matchups between these young corners and Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce will be quite the showing.
