Missouri football: 3 Mizzou Tigers primed for a breakthrough season in 2021
By Jacob Milham
What members of the Missouri football team will break out this upcoming season?
With August right around the corner and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Media Days done, college football’s return is palpable. Watch lists are coming out, tickets are on sale, alumni are making their tailgating plans.
It is something that was sorely missed heading into the 2020 college season and makes the 2021 season all the sweeter.
Few SEC teams have as much to look forward to as the Missouri Tigers. The Tigers finished at 5-5 in 2020, with a win over then-defending national champions LSU. Not a terrible first year for head coach Eliah Drinkwitz, who came from Appalachain State the year before.
President John F. Kennedy once said that “a rising tide will lift all boats”. While the saying was directed towards taxes and the economy, the idea applies to this football program; an improving coaching staff will improve the team’s success and recruiting in years to come.
It is not fair to place any championship expectations on this Missouri football team.
Missouri football: Which Mizzou Tigers are primed to have a breakthrough season in 2021?
They were recently predicted to finish fourth in the SEC Eastern Division, behind the Georgia Bulldogs, Florida Gators, and Kentucky Wildcats.
This is a respectable spot for a rebuilding program, who need to bring in quality recruits against fellow SEC teams. Qualifying for a bowl game is a good expectation for this year and a stepping stone for years to come.
Where are those leaders come from, to build this program up?
