The Missouri football team gets Trajan Jeffcoat back as the talented defender returns for the Missouri Tigers in a season that could cement his status as an NFL prospect.

Trajan Jeffcoat, a redshirt junior from Columbia, South Carolina, is the lone Tiger featured on the 2021 Bednarik Award Watch List. The award, named for former football player Chuck Bednarik, is presented annually to college football’s best defensive player.

While the award plays second to its sister award, the Maxwell Award, being named to the watch list is an equal honor.

In 2021, Jeffcoat will have an opportunity to take a step forward and lead the Missouri Tigers in what could be a truly great season, if things can go their way. Something that will absolutely have to go their way is that Jeffcoat will need to step up and play better than he did one season ago, which was still really good.

Jeffcoat is talented and helped elevate the Tigers in 2020. He can do that again in 20201. While Missouri tries to contend in the SEC, Jeffcoat can be the defensive player the Tigers need this season.

So, here’s why Jeffcoat could take a considerable step forward and here’s why you, and the Bednarik Award, need to keep up with him this season.
