It’s finally watch list season, folks. The college football world is full of previews and predictions and opinions and media days. And also watch lists. One of the first watch lists announced was the Maxwell Award watch list.
As it turns out, a couple members of the Kansas State football team wound up finding their names on that list.
The two Wildcats to earn a spot on the 2021 Maxwell Award Watch List were experienced quarterback Skylar Thompson and Deuce Vaughn, a young star at running back for the Kansas State football team.
The two Wildcats have been crucial for Kansas State’s offense and will absolutely have plenty of opportunities to shine during the 2021 Kansas State football season.

Of course, the two members of the Kansas State football team were far from being the only players listed on the Maxwell Award watch list. Preseason award watch lists are notorious for naming quite a few players to keep an eye on each and every year.
In fact, a total of 80 players were listed to the 2021 Maxwell Award preseason watch list.
That’s quite a few players to be considered and many of them are high profile players at prominent college football teams.
So, Thompson will be competing against the best players in the country throughout the year if he’s going to contend for the Maxwell Award watch list. He’s fighting an uphill battle against guys like Spencer Rattler, Kedon Slovis, Bo Nix, D’Eriq King, and so many others.
But, Thompson should be considered a serious candidate for the award. And here’s why:
