Right Tackle

Mike Remmers, Lucas Niang

It seems as if a lot of Chiefs fans have a false perception of Mike Remmers ever since the Super Bowl. Look, I get it. Mike Remmers  had a terrible Super Bowl and he wasn’t good at left tackle, but that doesn’t change the fact he filled in tremendously for Mitchell Schwartz at right tackle.

The Chiefs gave Mike Remmers a pay increase when they brought him back this offseason for a reason. They plan to have him start at right tackle. At least at first.

Many Chiefs fans would like to see Lucas Niang start at right tackle and I believe he will eventually, but he hasn’t played in a real game for about two years and is coming off an injury. The 2020 draft pick has a lot of promise and his development should be a fun one to follow but he has to take the job from Remmers first and prove he is that guy.

If you noticed, I have Niang as the backup at both tackle spots. That’s because I believe he can play either. Regardless of if he starts over Remmers at first, if Orlando Brown were to get hurt I believe the Chiefs would simply move Niang over to left and put Remmers back at right tackle. So, there’s two scenarios in which Remmers starts at right tackle anyway.
