KC Chiefs 7-Round Mock Draft: Offensive line gets even stronger
KC Chiefs Mock Draft 8.0
Round 7: Pick 207 – Quintin Morris, TE (Bowling Green)
With their final pick of this mock draft, the Chiefs add a developmental tight end named Quintin Morris. Backup tight end has been a position of need for the Chiefs ever since Anthony Fasano left after the 2014 season but KC has failed to truly address it.
This year is a good year to find a future backup tight end, as the guy brought in wouldn’t be expected to fill the role right away. The Chiefs signed Blake Bell to back up Travis Kelce in 2021, so Morris could be the TE3 for 2021 and learn behind both Kelce and Bell.
Morris played wide receiver for the first three years he was at Bowling Green and switched to tight end his senior season. His stats weren’t great in 2020, but he only played in five games and also displayed excellent run-blocking skills.
This might not be the most exciting pick but it’s certainly one the Chiefs could stand to make.
This seven-round mock draft had the KC Chiefs drafting three offensive players and three defensive players.
While the Chiefs certainly have depth to fill, they’re still in a good spot moving forward. The players drafted in this mock would be wonderful pieces to add to the juggernaut that is the Kansas City Chiefs.
- Creed Humphrey being available late in the second round was a gift from the football gods and the Chiefs snatched him up. He’d be their starting center for the next four years (hopefully longer though).
- Levi Onwuzurike is a boom or bust defensive player but the Chiefs believe he’d be more boom than bust.
- Patrick Jones II is a freak when it comes to getting after the quarterback and the Chiefs need that on their defense.
- Shi Smith gives KC another elusive weapon for Mahomes to throw to and who doesn’t want that?
- Kary Vincent Jr. is a flexible defensive back for Spagnuolo to move around in different packages.
- Quintin Morris played both wide receiver and tight end and wouldn’t be rushed into the TE2 role. He’d have time to learn behind Kelce and Bell before that were to happen.
What do you think of this mock draft, Chiefs fans? Do any of these picks stand out to you?
