KC Chiefs Mock Draft 8.0

Round 6: Pick 181 – Kary Vincent Jr., CB (LSU)

player. 817. . Cornerback. Tigers . Kary Vincent Jr.. 181

For the first time in several years, the Chiefs don’t necessarily have to draft a cornerback. They have talent returning at the position, but Charvarius Ward will be a free agent after this year, so it’s worth looking to add depth at corner.

Kary Vincent Jr. is the versatile defender that Steve Spagnuolo covets for his defense. Vincent has experience playing both safety and slot corner, which could see him being used in a similar fashion that KC used Kendall Fuller during their Super Bowl-winning season. Fuller was initially used as a corner but split time at safety that year, which elevated both his play and the Chiefs’ defense.

Vincent is a bit on the smaller side (5’10”, 189 pounds), which is problematic as far as asking him to tackle would be concerned, but he’s worth taking a chance on late in the draft. He wouldn’t be thrown to the wolves right away, as the Chiefs would likely consider him a project player but it’s never a bad thing to have too much depth in the secondary.
