KC Chiefs Mock Draft 7.0

Round 7: Pick 207 – Dan Moore Jr., OT (Texas A&M)

873. . Offensive Tackle. Aggies . Dan Moore Jr.. 207. player

Now that the Chiefs don’t have to worry about taking an offensive tackle in the first round, they can address other needs and maybe circle back to adding depth later on. Dan Moore Jr. played guard in high school but switched to tackle once he got to Texas A&M, per his draft profile on NFL.com.

Moore played both left tackle and right tackle, starting on the right side of the line and then switching to the left for the rest of his collegiate career. He’s not someone the Chiefs would rush out to play along the o-line (and with Orlando Brown in town, they wouldn’t have to), but giving him a year to marinate on the practice squad could do wonders for him.

This could also be important should the Chiefs not come to an agreement on a contract extension with Brown and the team franchise tags him for 2022. That could then give Moore two years to season on the practice squad.

This would be a developmental selection, but with a few years to sit and learn, Moore might be a decent late-round pick to add to this group.

The KC Chiefs have a left tackle and that opens thing up in this seven-round mock draft.

With Orlando Brown in Kansas City, the Chiefs were able to spend their first selection on a linebacker, which is another major position of need. Joseph Ossai would pair nicely with Willie Gay and give the Chiefs hope at linebacker moving forward.

They spent their second pick in round two on Pat Freiermuth, who is not only a nice TE2, but would give the Chiefs the most feared tight end duo in the league. After those two picks, the Chiefs don’t draft again until round four where they add Osa Odighizuwa. He’s someone who they hope can contribute against the run.

Josh Palmer is a wide receiver who, with the right coaching and scheme, could maybe blossom into a big weapon for this team. He had quarterback issues at Tennessee but he wouldn’t have that in Kansas City. This team needs another receiver and Palmer could be a nice fit.

Deommodore Lenoir and Dan Moore Jr. round out the Chiefs’ selections in this mock draft. Both are depth pieces but if all goes according to plan, both could be value picks.

It’s important for the Chiefs to hit on all of their picks now that they traded three picks in this year’s draft (and one next year) for Brown. I’m fine with the acquisition but Brett Veach has to make sure these picks pan out in some capacity (even if it’s just contributing on special teams).
