With the 17th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders select…

Jaylen Waddle. 17. player. 28. . Wide Receiver. Las Vegas Raiders

Raiders GM: Kole

The Raiders lucked out that A) The Eagles passed on Jaylen Waddle and B) That Waddle continued to plummet all the way down to No. 17 where Jon Gruden happily snatches him up. Waddle will join last year’s first-round pick Henry Ruggs as the two main receivers in Las Vegas.

Raiders fans would be jumping for joy if the draft played out this way because Waddle is the kind of weapon who can help make the Raiders competitive against the AFC West-dominating Chiefs.

Staff Reaction: It’d be shocking if Jaylen Waddle actually fell this far in the draft, but if he did and the Raiders took him, pairing him with Henry Ruggs would be quite a terror for opposing defenses.  – Leigh

With the 18th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select…

. EDGE. Miami Dolphins. Azeez Ojulari. 18. player. 59

Dolphins GM: Cullen

Well, I tried moving up a spot in order to grab Waddle, but the Raiders’ GM never responded to my Slack message (insert sad face emoji). Imagine the Dolphins suddenly lining up on offense with Kyle Pitts and Jaylen Waddle. C’est la vie.

I’ve seen the Dolphins mocked to a running back here, and all of them are still available. Yet, I’m going with the speed rusher Ojulari out of Georgia here, as he had a terrific 2020 for the Bulldogs, 9.5 sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss from the outside. He might be smaller than other EDGE rushers still on the board, but his speed and quickness make up for that.

Staff Reaction: Perhaps rich for me, as there were certainly better options on the board at the same position I liked better(Kwity Paye) for the Dolphins defensive scheme and other positions (Terrace Marshall, Rashod Bateman).

While Ojulari is an intriguing pass rusher and a great athlete, he’s not ready at this point to be an every-down player and someone like Paye may be able to contribute sooner. Will Ojulari be able to bulk up to add the weight needed to hold down the outside in the Dolphins defense? – John
