2021 NFL Draft: KC Kingdom First-Round Mock Draft
With the fifth pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select…
Bengals GM: Leigh
The Bengals have a tough choice here, as — due to the run on quarterbacks — they’ll be able to land either the best offensive lineman in the draft or the best wide receiver in a stacked receiver class.
I can certainly hear the arguments for taking Ja’Marr Chase (Joe Burrow’s LSU teammate) with this selection, but let’s be real here — the reason Burrow missed the second half of his rookie season was because of the lack of o-line in front of him. Cincinnati has to go with Penei Sewell if he’s on the board here because he shores up a major need for Burrow’s Bengals.
Staff Reaction: The Bengals had some options here, including adding Florida tight end Kyle Pitts or the top wide receiver on their board, but they made the right call. Quarterback Joe Burrow, last year’s No. 1 draft pick, got hit too much last season. Cincinnati needs to invest more into protecting Burrow, and they do that here by grabbing the draft’s top tackle. – Cullen
With the sixth pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select…
Dolphins GM: Cullen
Forget Kyle Pitts’ listed position–dude’s an offensive weapon who can line up outside as a wide receiver or inside as a tight end. He’s the best pass-catching option in the draft, and he gets to stay in the State of Florida and team up with the young, promising Tua Tagovailoa with the Dolphins.
Pitts, listed at 6-foot-6 and weighing 246 pounds, caught 12 touchdown passes as a junior with the Gators last season. He’ll instantly become Tua’s most dangerous weapon as the Dolphins continue to improve.
Staff Reaction: Hard to fault the Dolphins for this pick, as Kyle Pitts is the best offensive weapon on the board. It would have been fun to see Miami bring one of Tua’s old Alabama weapons to South Beach, but Pitts is going to really elevate the Dolphins offense. – Kole
