The Kansas City Chiefs need to be looking at prospects from smaller schools and these are just a few names who stand out.

My favorites on the list are David Moore, Robert Rochell, and Myron Mitchell.

  • Moore can develop into quality depth if not a starter along the interior in as early as a season when both current right guards’ contracts expire.
  • Rochell is an intriguing athletic corner that fits what the Chiefs often look for in a corner.
  • Mitchell is quick enough with strong hands and good routes that the Chiefs could find a way for him to be productive in the draft.
  • I would look to find a way to make Zach Davidson my top target in the undrafted ranks of rookie free agency.

Many have said the Chiefs have to nail this draft and I don’t know that I totally understand the comment. Do they need to be better, especially what Veach has been doing, in the draft in finding contributors? Very much so.

But they have Patrick Mahomes and that right there puts them ahead of the other teams. What they need to do is avoid Breeland Speaks-level disasters. Targeting players from smaller schools can be risky, but the Chiefs have had success with Sneed as well as Tershawn Wharton, so they’re not afraid of taking the risk whatsoever.

Hopefully, whoever they do nab from smaller schools can come in and make a big impact on this team.
