Kansas City Chiefs: Prospects from smaller schools

Myron Mitchell, WR, Alabama-Birmingham

Despite what many may think, finding depth at wide receiver is important. If Demarcus Robinson was actually any good, the player would have found offers on the open market better than a veteran minimum deal.

Also, despite fans’ beliefs, the KC Chiefs have yet to show they fully trust Byron Pringle. Mecole Hardman has also yet to show he can be a full, complete receiver. Oh, and Tyreek Hill is closing in on free agency and is likely to land a massive deal, potentially elsewhere.

With that said, Myron Mitchell is a player I fully believe, if utilized correctly, will be a better professional player than he was in college. He isn’t the fastest receiver in the draft (has not run yet so no official time) but what you see on film are strong and good routes, in and out of cuts quickly, with solid top-end speed. He uses precise cuts to create space and can get down the field.

The Chiefs need some additional help at receiver, and Mitchell, who only spent two seasons at UAB after coming from the JUCO ranks is a player with additional learning and development awaiting whatever team selects him. He just needs some time, asked to contribute in specific situations as he harnesses the rest of his game.
