KC Chiefs Mock Draft 6.0

Round 6: Pick 181 – Brady Breeze, Safety (Oregon)

player. 820. . Safety. Ducks . Brady Breeze. 181

Safety isn’t a position of need in the draft, but teams usually draft for depth in the later rounds anyway, and Brady Breeze could give the Chiefs tremendous depth at the position.

Tyrann Mathieu has said that he wants to be in Kansas City for the remainder of his career and the Chiefs would obviously love that. Juan Thornhill is also looking to be a promising option moving forward. Daniel Sorensen agreed to return on a one-year deal. This gives Kansas City depth, but with Sorensen only being signed for a year, I’d be okay with the Chiefs grabbing a safety in the later rounds of the draft.

Breeze isn’t an NFL starter and the Chiefs would absolutely know that going into taking him. What he could provide, however, is a solid backup option at the safety spot while also being a terrific special teams option. We’ve seen how much of a difference Sorensen can make as a special teams player, and Breeze could find himself as a similar contributor.

This pick might not excite fans all that much since safety isn’t a huge concern, but drafting for depth is never a bad idea.
