KC Chiefs 7-Round Mock Draft: Adding 2 immediate defensive contributors

The KC Chiefs need to add immediate contributors in the 2021 NFL Draft and they do that with their first two picks in this seven-round mock.

While the Kansas City Chiefs have mostly been tied to an offensive lineman with their first-round pick, I wouldn’t be so sure that’ll be the direction in which they go in. If the board falls favorably and there are some valuable players at other positions that the Chiefs also need to address, it’d be hard to see them passing on those players.

That very thing happened in this mock draft, as the Chiefs landed a tremendous player who can come in and contribute right away. I put this mock together using The Draft Network’s mock draft simulator and it’s a tool I’d highly recommend others use if they’re wanting to get a feel for some of the names out there.

Chiefs fans should like what I did with this mock draft, but you can be the judge! Let’s get to the mock draft shenanigans!

KC Chiefs Mock Draft 6.0

Round 1: Pick 31 – Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB (Notre Dame)

31. player. 819. . Linebacker. Fighting Irish . Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah

The Chiefs would be elated if Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah fell to the end of the first-round draft because this guy is a game-changer on defense. He totaled 142 tackles, seven sacks, seven defended passes, five forced fumbles, and one interception during his two years at Notre Dame.

There’s no nice way to say that the Chiefs’ linebacking corp needs major improvement this offseason and Owusu-Koramoah would do just that. Pairing him with Willie Gay and Anthony Hitchens in 2021 would make the unit a much more respected one, but the Chiefs could also opt to use the versatile defender as a safety in certain packages.

While there were good offensive tackles still on the board at pick 31, the Chiefs couldn’t pass on Owusu-Koramoah. He’d give them a tremendous player at a position that has been a major weakness for quite some time now.
