The KC Chiefs need to add a No. 2 wide receiver and the 2021 NFL Draft is a good place to find one, as this year’s receiver class is full of good options.

There are several different directions the Kansas City Chiefs can go in this year with their first-round pick. Offensive line seems to be the position that most people think they’ll address and if you watched the Super Bowl, then you’ll know exactly why that is.

Another position that needs attention this offseason to is at wide receiver, as Sammy Watkins is no longer with the team, meaning the WR2 spot is wide open. Sure, the Chiefs could let Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson, and Byron Pringle fight it out for that spot in training camp and preseason, but for those of us who have watched these guys play, none of them scream WR2.

The 2021 NFL Draft is a good place for the Chiefs to look for a WR2 and they honestly might not have to spend an early pick on one. That’s how stacked this year’s class is.

The KC Chiefs can wait until Day 2 or even Day 3 to find their No. 2 receiver.

When it comes to the prospects who could still be on the board late in the first round, it’s names like Terrace Marshall Jr., Elijah Moore, and Kadarius Toney (all SEC guys). While these players are talented, they’re players who the Chiefs could wait until the second round to take (maybe by trading out of the first round).

There’s also still plenty of talent past those guys, including Josh Palmer, Amari Rodgers, Sage Surratt, and Tylan Wallace. These are players that could very well still be on the board in the third round and potentially Day 3 of the draft as well. That’d be incredible value for the Chiefs who, despite needing a WR2 pretty badly, have more concerning needs that they could spend their earlier picks on.

We all want the Chiefs to find a dynamic wide receiver to pair with Tyreek Hill and they can certainly do that in this draft. With this year’s receiver draft class being so loaded, however, the Kansas City Chiefs can afford to wait on taking one and still find one capable of being an absolute game-changer on offense.
