KC Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Bucs quarterback Tom Brady have been interacting on Twitter and it’s been entertaining to say the least.

After the Kansas City Chiefs lost Super Bowl LV, Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez made good on a bet he had made with Rays outfielder (and former Royal) Brett Phillips — Whoever’s city lost the game had to wear the jersey of the winning team. Well, the Bucs won, so Pere made good on his bet and wore a Tom Brady Buccaneers jersey to batting practice.

The Royals tweeted a video of Perez wearing the jersey and mentioning that Patrick Mahomes was the best quarterback. Their caption was “Sometimes words speak louder than actions”.

Well, this caught Brady’s attention, who quote tweeted the video and said,

The domino effect continued, as Brady’s tweet then caught the eye of Patrick Mahomes, who wanted to get in on this discussion too.

Patrick Mahomes jokingly told Tom Brady that they’ll see if actions speak louder than words in 20 years.

This was definitely Mahomes and Brady kidding around, but Mahomes said it right there that he plans to give Brady a run for his money over the next two decades. Brady has had quite the career, no one is going to argue that, but Mahomes has done incredible things just four years into his young career.

The two have squared off five times with Brady holding a 3-2 advantage. The rivalry was tied up at two wins apiece until Brady’s Bucs bested the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV. That was Mahomes’ chance to not only take the lead over a guy he might not face again (unless it’s in the Super Bowl) and now it’ll be tough to get as many championships as Brady has, even at such a young age.

These tweets all started with a simple tweet from the Royals joking about a silly bet and turned into Mahomes telling Brady to watch out because he’s coming for him, albeit 20 years down the road. It’d obviously be great if Mahomes played for 20 more years and was on track to be better than Brady, but for now, let’s just enjoy the fact that this is a unique rivalry in the NFL.
