If the KC Chiefs want to draft a cornerback in the first round, here are the four best options at the position who could still be available at pick 31.

Cornerback is always a need for the Kansas City Chiefs and this year is no exception. The Chiefs have L’Jarius Sneed as their top option at corner, but after that, there are some questions, especially when it comes to the long-term answers.

Charvarius Ward is a free agent after this year, DeAndre Baker is coming off an injury, Rashad Fenton is good, but hasn’t fully gotten to prove himself, and BoPete Keyes is still developing. This means the Chiefs could use another young cornerback and they could find him in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The best options in this year’s draft are Patrick Surtain II (whose father played with the Chiefs in the 2000s), but he’ll be a top 10 pick, and Jaycee Horn (whose father also played with the Chiefs, oddly enough), but he’ll likely be a top 20 selection. Pretty much everyone else is fair game for the Chiefs at pick 31.

Let’s take a look at the other realistic cornerback options for Kansas City with the No. 31 selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Realistic Linebacker Options for KC Chiefs

4. Eric Stokes (Georgia)

The first entry on my list is someone who I’d rather the Chiefs wait until the second round to draft. Eric Stokes was mocked to Kansas City earlier in the offseason but hasn’t typically been listed as a first-round prospect since then.

Stokes’ highlight of the 2020 season for the Georgia Bulldogs was hauling in four interceptions and taking half of his picks the other way for touchdowns. The Chiefs love having ball hawks on the defensive side of the ball and there’s no doubt that Stokes fits that mold.

Stokes does get criticized for his lack of run defense and with a Chiefs defense that already struggles to stop the run, this is something to be wary of for sure.
