KC Chiefs: 5 most realistic wide receiver targets in 2021 NFL Draft
Realistic Wide Receiver Options for KC Chiefs
3. Kadarius Toney (Florida)
A lot of people are high on Kadarius Toney and while I’d be okay with the Chiefs drafting him, the reason I have him at No. 3 is that he’s the least likely out of this bunch to be available when the Chiefs are on the clock. He’s been mocked to the Chiefs in several different mock drafts, but he’s also been mocked as a top 25 pick at times too, so it really does just depend.
Toney had the best season of his college career in 2020, hauling in 70 receptions for 984 yards and 10 touchdowns. Prior to that, he didn’t accomplish much, never totaling more than 260 yards and one touchdown in his first three years in Gainesville.
KC Kingdom’s John McCarty wants the Chiefs to avoid taking Toney if he’s on the board at pick 31. He says that Toney reminds him of De’Anthony Thomas, who — despite having an okay career in KC — never turned into the player Kansas City had hoped he would. Toney would have even more expectations piled on him considering he’d be a first-round pick and the first three years of his college career do stand out as reasons to be cautious of him.
Truthfully, I’m hoping Toney is snatched up before pick 31 rolls around because he does have a lot of questions surrounding him.
