The KC Chiefs need an offensive tackle — namely a left tackle — and might look to do so with their first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

After getting pushed around in Super Bowl LV, the Kansas City Chiefs‘ offensive line needs a major upgrade. They released Eric Fisher due to the amount of money he was owed and likely not being able to play in 2021, opening up their left tackle position for a new long-term option.

So far, it doesn’t look like the Chiefs’ left tackle for the 2021 season is on their roster yet. They could still opt to sign someone in free agency or trade for someone (Orlando Browns, perhaps?), but the likeliest option is to find their next left tackle in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Kansas City has the No. 31 selection in the draft, which makes finding their next left tackle of the future tricky. As awesome as it’d be to land Penei Sewell, he’s going in the top 10 picks (maybe even top 5) and unless the Chiefs want to give up a massive haul to acquire him, Sewell won’t be coming to Kansas City.

What tackle options could be available with the No. 31 pick? Let’s take a look at the five most realistic tackle targets for the Chiefs with where they’re drafting.

Realistic Offensive Tackle Options for KC Chiefs

5. Teven Jenkins (Oklahoma State)

There’s a solid chance that Teven Jenkins is off the board before the Chiefs are picking at 31, but I have seen him mocked to KC frequently, so he’s definitely a realistic option. Even if Jenkins is available when KC is on the clock, he might not be the best fit for the team.

Jenkins spent most of his career playing right tackle, which isn’t a need for the Chiefs right now. Jenkins did play left tackle and right guard as well, but the majority of his time at Oklahoma State was spent as a right tackle and it’s where he’d be best suited in the NFL.
