Kansas City Chiefs need to thrive in 2021: Better offensive line

I don’t need to go into detail about the offensive line’s performance (or lack thereof) in Super Bowl LV. We all watched it unfold and it was embarrassing. It’s been the storyline for the Chiefs this offseason and for good reason.

The Chiefs have added help to their o-line, including All-Pro guard Joe Thuney and three-time Pro Bowl lineman Kyle Long. They also re-signed Mike Remmers and very well could take a tackle with their first-round pick.

Considering how much dough the Chiefs are investing in Mahomes over the next decade, it’s vital that the offensive line does their job and protects him. Mahomes is typically pretty good about getting rid of the football or at least scrambling and not getting sacked, but as we saw in the Super Bowl, that won’t always be the case.

If the Chiefs can get a serviceable left tackle (which might be challenging considering their remaining options), their offensive line won’t be as much of a liability anymore. The line needs to start being a constant priority for the Chiefs because one missed block could result in some really hard times for this organization moving forward.
