KC Chiefs Mock Draft 5.0

Round 5: Pick 175 – Jonathon Taylor, EDGE (Ohio State)

player. 812. . EDGE. Buckeyes . Jonathon Cooper. 175

With their fifth-round pick, the Chiefs go with Jonathon Cooper out of Ohio State. Cooper is a disruptive EDGE rusher who came back with a vengeance after suffering a high-ankle sprain in 2019. This was the right decision for Cooper too, who really perfected his craft in his final year of eligibility and would be quite the steal at this point in the draft.

Cooper finished his 2020 season with 24 total tackles and 3.5 sacks through eight games. He’s not going to be a starter, but the Chiefs would be able to use him strictly as someone who gets after the quarterback. That’d be his biggest task whenever he’s on the field.

The Chiefs need help with their pass-rushing department and Cooper would give them just that. He might not be the best at any particular thing, but he’s good at just about everything. This would be an excellent value pick for Kansas City.
